At 13 years of age, Due made his transition into the next world.
His favorite toy, Winnie the Pooh, comforted Due as he prepared for his final journey.

That is how my beloved friend Due became my companion for 13 years. Unfortunately during the last 4 he suffered from a progressive problem with his hind legs. I contacted the dear Barbara Mapelli Mozzi who had taken wonderful care of him for numerous illnesses; he was a delicate dog and prone to intestinal problems. I asked Barbara to help make Due’s life dignified.
With great love and her extraordinary qualities, Barbara took care of his illness, relieved his suffering and postponed his death. We eventually had to put him down after 6 months when he was unable to stand up to eat or urinate.
I also decided to help Due preserve his dignity because this is what his eyes had been saying to me for some time. On that morning of October 28th, with a sweet sun on the horizon, Barbara arrived two hours before the vet. Barbara asked me to leave her alone with Due because she wanted to “prepare” him in her own way.
